This blog lists possible causes of troubles, inspections and corrective measures to restore the normal functionality of the Water Transfer Pump.

Problem

No water pumped.

Inspection

First of all, see if there is water in priming hole or not. After that, check for air leakage in the foot valve.

Solution

1.       Re-prime the pump again according to the instruction manual.

2.       Check and fix all connections on suction line and AVC. Also, check the ejector with shaving cream or soapy water.

3.       Check foot and replace if it is out of order.

Problem

Low line voltage

Inspection

Switch on the pump and use a voltmeter to see the power being supplied to the pump.

Solution

If the power supply is less than the minimum recommended then check if the wiring can supply the required amount of power from the main. If it cannot, than replace it with one that can supply.

Problem

Pump not primed completely.

Inspection

Check if there is water in the prime and piping.

Solution

Reprime according to the instruction manual.

Problem

Air lock in the suction line.

Inspection

An air lock may be formed when the horizontal piping between the pump and well does not pitch in the upward direction from source to the pump.

Solution

Eliminate air lock by rearranging piping.

Problem

System delivery is low.

Inspection

Check the size of the Discharge pipe and find out if it can discharge the amount of liquid pumped by the pump.

Solution

Replace undersized pipes.

Problem

Air leakage in tubing or volume control.

Inspection

To inspect, detach air volume control tube at plug hole and pump. An increase in the capacity indicates leakage.

Solution

To avoid air leakage in volume control or tubing, replace volume control and tighten filling.
